The Voice of Democracy Scholarship (VOD) is a VFW annually sponsored contest that is open to students in grades 9-12. Each year, the National VFW organization selects the contests patriotic theme. A Contestant submits an application form with a 3 minute orally recorded tape and a written essay copy of their entry. Each Post may select a Post level winner. Contest winners continue to the District level, then to the state level, and then each state winner competes at the national level. Local, state, and national winners receive U.S. Savings Bonds awards to assist student to pursue higher education.
