Yellow Ribbon Program
The Minnesota National Guard has pioneered a
program that empowers community leaders to
synchronize efforts and build an enduring network
of support for service members and their families
throughout the deployment cycle.  The program,
the Yellow Ribbon Community Campaign, is a
reminder that supporting service members cannot
end when they return home from deployment, and
the yellow ribbons are untied. This program has
been endorsed by the Governor and his wife and
will be growing in Minnesota as time goes on.

In the 2009 VFW District Fall Conference, all posts
were asked to join the effort and contact resources
in each community to solicit help in starting a
"Yellow Ribbon Community".  They are asking for
representatives from Business, Faith Based
organizations, Elected Officials, Educators, Youth
Organizations, Medical Service Providers, Public
Safety and Law Enforcement, Social Service
Providers and Veteran Organizations to join a
Community effort. The object is to enact action
plans for each segment of the Community.

Our Post is in the process of activating the Yellow
Ribbon program and will be reporting on activities
to  formulate plans and to contact other elements
of the community to solicit participation.
