Patriot Pen Program
The VFW "Patriot Pen" competition is an annual essay program
for the 6th, 7th and 8th grade students.  Each student must write
a 300-400 word essay on an annual patriotic theme prescribed
by the VFW.  Over 100,000 students participate nationwide.  
Total national awards exceed $90,000.  Winners are selected at
the Post, District, State and National levels, with monetary
awards at each level.

Scheduled
dates for the Patriot Pen program are:
Student Entry - Midnight, November 1, 2009
Complete Post Judging - November 15, 2009
Complete District Judging - December 6, 2009
Complete State Judging - January 7, 2010
State winner to National - January 15, 2010

Post #5919 commenced sponsoring this program in 2009, and
will continue offering this essay contest in  the future.
